Along Pakistan’s Arabian Sea coast

A fresh reading of an old coastal list, from Karachi’s urban waterfront to the open shores of Makran.

Read the original list with context

The historical page brought together Somiani, Gwadar, Do Darya, Sunehri, Manora, Hawksbay, Sea View, Clifton, Nathiagali, Tushan and Kund Malir. These are not eleven interchangeable beaches. Do Darya is associated with waterfront dining, and Sea View overlaps with the Clifton waterfront. Naming every item a separate beach makes the geography less clear.

Different kinds of a day by the sea

Karachi’s waterfront offers the atmosphere of a big city meeting the coast: evening visitors, food and busy promenades. Other stretches have a quieter, more exposed character. Makran’s coast is a different landscape again, where distances and limited services can shape a journey as much as the destination. A map is essential for understanding how far apart these places actually are.

An inspiration list, not an access guarantee

Treat the names as a reading list rather than a ready-made itinerary. Some locations have access restrictions, and arrangements can change. Check local permissions, tides, weather, transport and official travel advice before setting out. An attractive shore is not automatically suitable for swimming. Leave wildlife and nesting areas undisturbed, take litter away, and choose a visit that fits the conditions on the day.
